What is Phonelocator periodic?
Phonelocator periodic is a tracking application. It runs on your phone and and periodically uploads the phone's position to the Phonelocator periodic web site.
Where is the public map?
Phonelocator Periodic does not have a public map. You can share you location by setting it as public and then emailing/blogging/tweeting your update 'feed' url. This is accessed by clicking My Phones then 'Updates'
Why are all the update times 'wrong' by x hours?
The server is located in London and all times are in GMT. We intend to add time zone support.
Why do I get error code -33?
Error code -33 occurs when the connection to the server times out.
Why do I get error code -34?
Error code -34 occurs when your phone can't connect to the Phonelocator server. This could be because the server is down.
How do I signup up for an account?
Signup here or during registration after installing Phonelocator periodic on the phone.
How much does Phonelocator periodic cost?
There is currently no charge to use the Phonelocator periodic service. Your network operator may charge you for the data transmitted and received by the Phonelocator periodic application.
The network operator will also charge for 'buddy' messages to be sent at the same rate as a normal sms message of a similar length to the 'buddy number'.
How much data does Phonelocator periodic send and receive
That depends on how often you update and how many Wifi networks are in the vicinity when you update. I think it would unusual for an individual update to involve sending more than 1.5kB and receiving more than 1.5kB, so if you update every hour you would be sending and receiving 36kB every day.
Does Phonelocator periodic affect the battery life of the phone?
Yes, when tracking is enabled. When the GPS is switched on it draws current from the phone's battery running it down quicker than if it were switched off.
The data context that is used to send data to the server also uses charge from the battery. If you set Phonelocator periodic update infrequently the drain on the battery should not be noticeable.
Use Device software update to install the latest firmware to your phone. Early N95 firmware versions, for example, did not support A-GPS which improves GPS performance
Can I associate two phone with one account?
Yes, when you install Phonelocator periodic on the second phone use the same user name and password that you created when you installed Phonelocator periodic on the first phone.
Does Phonelocator periodic work when my phone is switched off?
No
